Our History
The organization was founded in the year 2000 by Dr. Charles Frighton Mazinga, who self-funded philanthropic activities to improve the health and financial situation of his home village in Chikwawa, Malawi. After recruiting a team of 5 trustees, they finalized the organization’s constitution and officially registered in 2002. From 2002, the organization did commendable work in Chikwawa and received public and professional recognition. The organization collaborated with government offices such as the Chikwawa District Assembly, National Youth Council of Malawi, Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, National Library Services, and several non-governmental organizations like World Vision International (WVI), Malawi Network of AIDS Service Organization (MANASO), UNAIDS, Population Service International (PSI), Family Health International USA (FHI), and Interagency Youth USA. The organization is proud to have sponsored and nurtured youths into leaders and changed lives in the lower Shire Valley of Malawi. YOMOR would like to recognize 2024 as a new chapter of the organization with new leadership and missions for the ambitious new generation as we expand to all districts in Malawi.
